Green Giant Gets a Little Greener

Even though Green Giant has been committed to reducing its carbon footprint for along time, now they've decided to get a little greener in honor of Earth Day 2010.

Green Giant has always been footprint conscious of everything it plants, produces, packages and brings to your table.

Now to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Green Giant is taking that commitment to the environment and going one giant step farther, by giving $200,000 to The Nature Conservancy!

The $200, 000 will help fund a project that will encourage greener farming practices to repair and protect a Minnesota natural treasure — the Root River, one of Minnesota’s (Green Giant's home location) best trout streams.

Throughout its long history, Green Giant has worked to reduce its environmental footprint through many eco-conscious efforts including:

• Using less land and water needed to grow vegetables

• Packing vegetables in smaller, lighter cans, which use less fuel to deliver them to supermarket shelves

• Using traditional seed breeding methods over the last 35 years to double the amount of sweet corn grown on an acre of land

• Teaming up with growers to implant more efficient irrigation systems in their growing areas. These systems can reduce water use by more than a million gallons a year

• Switching to more earth-friendly paperboard packagaing for their frozen vegetables, this saves approximately 54,000 trees annually in the process

Natural Nail Color and Soy Nail Polish Remover from a Beautiful Life

Now you can have beautiful nails without worrying about the environment.

A Beautiful Life has created a line of natural nail lacquers that are; DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde Free; are non-toxic; soy based; come in recyclable packaging; and are safe enough that little girls can wear them with no worries.

The long wearing, chip resistant nail polish is available in classic and natural hues like Big Red (dark red), Vexed ( a golden brown), Poison (a burgundy shade), 80s Pink (hot pink), Rockstar (dark purple), Hot Red (a bright red), Nuit (a bright blue), Noir (a classic black with blue tones) and 4 more to total 12 colors in all. These current colors are sure to please any nail polish aficionado.

I am in love with Vexed and my teen son's girlfriend absolutely adores 80s Pink which is a super bright neon like pink color, definitely reminiscent of the 80s. Now I want to get my hands on (or would that be get the color on my hands) Noir and Rockstar.

Clean and Light Your Room at the Same Time While Saving Money

Now here's a fabulous green invention: The New Ionic CFL light bulb.

It is a CFL light bulb that is also ionic, therefore it can help remove pollen, dust, pet dander, odors, allergens and smoke from your room.

One bulb works for 100 square feet. A great thing about the bulb is that while it is cleaning your air, it is still saving energy- so it's saving you money. Wow. A light bulb that saves me money and helps me clean sounds like a great investment. The Ionic bulb only uses a quarter of the energy that a standard light bulb uses. Plus the Ionic Bulb is long lasting just like a standard CFL; it can last up to ten times longer than an incandescent bulb.

So how does it work?

A Review of Planet Wedding a Nuptial-pedia

Planet Wedding: A Nuptialpedia is the first encyclopedia style book I have come across dedicated to all things wedding. It is great! Full of facts, tidbits, advice, ideas, traditions, and so much more.

It has everything you could possibly want to know about weddings.

I love weddings. I write about weddings, plan weddings and try to keep up to date about what is new in the world of weddings. I love learning about the myths and traditions of other cultures, the history of weddings from around the world, and I love vintage bridal gowns and accessories.

Planet Wedding has tidbits of everything in it. Whether you are a wedding guru or a bride to be this book should be in your stack of wedding planning books. I definitely think every wedding planner should have a copy of this book.
