Simple Changes to Make Life Simpler

A new year is a chance to make changes, to start changes, to decide how to make life better.

It's also a perfect time to decide how life can be simpler.

Our lives are overcomplicated by the numerous things we have going on from day to day. I know my to-do list gets longer every day with no end in site. Always cooking, cleaning, running errands, going from here to there- and so much time is wasted.

And we all know time is the one thing we can never get back or get more of.

So this year in addition to my resolutions and goals of saving money and losing weight I want to make life simpler. Simpler so it can be more enjoyable. Simpler so it can be less stressful. And simpler so it can be more meaningful.

How am I going to do this?

One way- clean as I go. This means I am not going to let messes pile up. Why toss something in a corner when it can be put where it belongs right away.

This means no clutter build up. Easy ways to do this for me include filing paperwork away instead of letting my file pile get so tall it's ready to topple over and putting laundry away as soon as it comes out of the dryer. No lingering things to do nagging at me from a corner or desk makes my life easier and less stressful right away.

Another way to make my life simpler- ask for help. I know this sounds simple as can be but you'd be surprised at how many moms simply don't think to ask for help. I know I get so caught up I forget that my family aren't a bunch of mind readers and they don't know when things need to be done. So from now on I will ask nicely for help from my family.

And the third way I plan to make life simpler this year- by just letting it go. I mean this symbolically and emotionally. Let go of the past, let go of the hurt, let go of trivial things and hurt feelings. Just let it all go, shrug the weight of the world off my shoulders and move on.

Three simply things that can make my life simple while making big changes for the better. I'm all for a simpler and better life and I'm taking the pledge to lead a simpler life this year.

How about you? What would you like to do to make your life simpler?
