Please welcome Erzabet Bishop.
Erzabet, share a little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.
I write under Dana Wright for light romance, horror,
YA and kids books. Recently I published my first novella called Asylum and am in the new Dead Harvest anthology with horror
greats like Richard Chizmar. It is being sold on the Cemetery Dance website and
Amazon and is doing quite well.
Tell
us a little about your latest or upcoming release.
My latest release is a shared effort between three
authors. It is called Gingerbread Dreams and is centered on a bakery during the
holidays.
Are
you a mom?
I am a dog mom to ten furry little tornadoes.
If
yes do you find it hard to juggle writing and parenting?
Yes. I also work full time as a bookstore manager
and write under another pen name, so my days are packed.
Have
you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own
life?
Oh goodness. All the time. You know that shirt
you've seen on the internet warning people to look out or they'll be in my
novel? Oh yeah. If you fall in my line of sight or hearing, you're in there in
some form or fashion.
Is
there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect
to?
Adventure in romance starts with choices. With Silk
Words, that's what its all about. Recently there was an article in USA Today
that mentioned how interactive fiction is really taking off. The reader gets to
determine how they want the story to go. I think that is important. How do you
want the tale to end? With the sexy baker? The childhood sweetheart? A woman
with some bondage cupcakes behind the pastry case? You pick the fun.
What
would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
I used to hate tacos as a child and now I live in
Texas. Go figure. You can't pry them from my hands and most nights after a late
shift at the bookstore I swing by my local taco pervayor for a cruncy bit of
yum.
When
you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?
I love to crochet. In fact I'm working on a pair of
fingerless gloves. The bedroom where I write gets pretty cold in the winter and
I can never seem to find any fingerless gloves here in Houston.
Which
romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write romance) do you wish
you had written?
Oh…that's a toughie. I love the Kim Harrison books
and have a fondness for the earlier books in the Anita Blake series. I also
love the Brie series by Red Phoenix.
Is
there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?
I would love to write middle grade and give that a
try. Maybe mysteries too.
If
this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?
Gingerbread Dreams is a stand alone book, but I have
a feeling there will be more books coming out with a shared author storyline in
the near future.
What
is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in
progress?
Yes. I have Holiday
Cruise, Temptation Resorts: Marnie's Tale and Jess's Adventure coming out from Silk Words in the next few months.
I also have Pomegranate, Holidays in Hell
and The Red Dress coming out from
Breathless Press. Taboo II was just
released by PWP, Unwrap These Presents,
Wicked Things and Written on Skin are
newly released along with my collection from Ladylit called Sweet Seductions: The Erzabet Bishop
Collection.
My works in progress are: a twisted fairy tale, a
super hero story, a romantic comedy, Sigil Fire 2, One Night in Houston and Charity
Benshaw's Enchanted Paddle Emporium. I am waiting to hear on several other
submissions and have plans to work with a group of authors for a box set release
of dessert themed sexy shorts for the summer.
What
book are you reading now?
I am reading Bloody Sexy by C. L. Bledsoe and it is
rocking hot.
What
is in your to read pile?
I have a massive one.
Hers to Own, The Family Tree, Seducing Cinderella,
Tempting Her Best Friend, Dead Harvest, On the Way to Everywhere, Necro Files,
Heaven to Hell, A Stitch on Time, Kiss of Christmas Magic and many, many more.
