Interview and Huge Giveaway with Rachel Carrington

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

Connecting Strangers, the first book in the Discovering Emily series, releases on July 21st. It’s a romantic suspense with some twists. Here’s a bit more about the book:

Getting close is dangerous…

He’s too close, and I start to fidget, needing to keep my hands busy so they won’t grab hold of his shirt. Because that’s what they want to do. Draw him closer. So I can Inhale his scent. Taste his skin.

I didn’t run because I was in an abusive relationship; I ran because my soul was being crushed. I’d forgotten how to live, how to be happy. Running out of gas in a small town, I catch the eye of the local sheriff when the very last thing I want is to come under the scrutiny of the police. I left my boyfriend with blood on my hands, and I know as soon as the wound heals he’ll come looking for me.

Adam Madison draws me to him so easily I can’t even pretend to fight. And the closer we get, the more combustible we become.  I’ve never experienced such passion or power. My need is as great as his, but I’m sure he’ll walk away from me once he knows my secret. No other man would stay.

I’ve had enough complications in my life. I’m not looking for more, and that’s exactly what Adam is—a sexy, magnetic complication with secrets of his own. And with my ex on the hunt, I can’t risk bringing him down with me. But he won’t leave…even when vengeance could kill us both.

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?

I’m working on a book right now with a character based upon my realtor. She and I talked about my writing when I was looking for a house, and I told her I was going to put her into one of my books and that I might kill her off. We had a good laugh about it and then I got an idea for a story where she would fit very well. I even used her real name, with permission, of course.

Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?

Though it’s a little clichéd, I would have to say that good triumphs over evil is the main theme in all of my books. It might not seem like it for a very long time, but, eventually, good will always win.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

I include a lot of fun facts about myself on my website so I had to really think about this one. I guess one of the biggest one is that I don’t drink alcohol. It has just never appealed to me.

I try to include ten new things in my newsletter each month, but eventually, I’m going to run out!

When you’re not writing what do you do?

Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures? I create book videos for other authors, and I’ve created music videos for my favorite television couples. Yes, I’m that much of a geek.

I have so many things I love to do, but one thing I do every night is watch a TV series on Netflix or Amazon Instant Video. Once I finish one, I start another one. It’s how I’m catching up on shows I never got around to watching or finishing like Nikita, The Glades, and The West Wing, etc. Right now, I’m catching up on Haven. In case you haven’t noticed a pattern, I tend to watch shows where the men are hot.

Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write romance) do you wish you had written?

Without a doubt, The Carpathian Series by Christine Feehan. Christine created such a unique world, and the characters’ abilities and personalities are mesmerizing. I’ve been in love with that series since it debuted.

Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?

I’ve been asked this question before, and it used to be Tess from Indigo Spell, but I’m finding now that it’s changing with each book I write. While I normally choose a heroine, this time, I would have to say it’s Francine from Connecting Strangers. She’s a secondary character (who is probably going to get her own novella), but she has a lot of heart, is sarcastic, and fiercely loyal. I loved writing her.

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?
Connecting Strangers is Book One of the Discovering Emily series. The next book is currently in the works, and it’s entitled Being Lovers. This one picks up one day later where Connecting Stranger ends.
A lot of questions about Emily gets answered in this book which opens the door for details about Adam’s past. I’m about 7,000 words in now, and I’m excited about where it’s going.

What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in progress?

As I mentioned above, I am working on the sequel for Connecting Strangers. I also have three books that are ready to be released, but they got pushed back on the schedule. They are the two remaining books in the Spirit series (Unite Our Souls & Keep Our Souls) and A Queen Seduced.

What book are you reading now? I’m about to start Witchling (Book One of the Sisters of the Moon series) by Yasmine Galenorn. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this series so I’m looking forward to it.

What is in your to read pile?

Anything by Michelle Rowen. I try to add her books to my Goodreads shelf just as soon as I find out about them.

Also, Jaime Rush’s Offspring series. I read the first book, A Perfect Darkness, and loved it!

Then there’s The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockman, Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare, The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen, and First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones. And, no, I have no idea which book I’ll start with next!

About the Author:

I started writing years ago, and my first attempt was a contemporary romance that will never see the light of day. I think I may even have thrown it away by now. It was absolutely horrific as I knew nothing about well…anything to do with writing.
After that, I started writing fantasy romances about wizards and wizards, and once those took off, I segued to paranormal romances (hello, vampires and ghosts) and romantic suspense.

I also write articles for various magazines, including The Writer’s Journal, Writer’s Magazine, Writer’s Weekly, Writing for Dollars, Absolute Write, Freelance Writing.com, and Funds for Writers.

I’m fortunate to make my home in historical Charleston, South Carolina. Beautiful city. Beautiful people. When I’m not writing, I love to read, watch Bones, Castle, Blue Bloods, and Hawaii Five-O, create videos, keep Target in business, play visitor in my city, and drink lots of coffee.

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.
The next book I’m releasing is the fourth book in my Gwen Sparks series. The series centers around a witch with the ability to interact and control spirits. It also includes sexy vampires and one rugged, mouthwatering Angel of Death. Hexed will be released this July.

Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?
I try to write all my female characters as strong and independent. I am very much a feminist and try to portray that in all my books.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
Hmm…I cannot whistle to save my life. I’ve tried countless times and just end up looking like a weirdo.

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?
I don’t have a lot of free time because I also design book covers for other authors so I’m constantly working on something. But, when I do manage to pull myself away from work, I like to read and play Super Mario Bros or Donkey Kong.

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?
The next book in this series will be titled, Finding Home. Brooke’s father gives her an ultimatum that will not only shake her world up, but also force her to find her own way.

What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in progress?
I will be releasing the next book in my Gwen Sparks series, Hexed, in July. In September, I’ll be releasing the next book in my Anna Avery series, Ruling the Wolf.

What is in your to read pile?
Sadly, I do not get to read as much as I would like. One series I’ve been hearing a lot about is the Charlie Davidson books by Darynda Jones. I plan to start those as soon as I finish my current WIP.

About the Author:

This may be my least favorite part about writing a book. You guys may be surprised to learn that I am the most boring person you’ll ever meet. The most interesting thing about me is that I write books, most of the time in my pajamas and jacked up on caffeine.

I began writing six years ago for fun and published my first book in 2012. Since then, my hobby has become my job and I love every second of it. I live in Illinois, in the country where I’m surrounded by corn and soybean fields. When I manage to escape my office, I enjoy fishing, spending time with my family and playing Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong. Yes, I’m a huge video game nerd.

Interview and Giveaway: Running Out of Lies by Abigail Madison Chase

Are you a mom?
I am a mom. I have a son, Hunter who just completed his freshman year at college and I have a senior in high school Shelby.

If yes do you find it hard to juggle writing and parenting?
Now that my nest is almost empty it’s a lot easier to write. When Hunter and Shelby were smaller they were a handful and in lot of activities.

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?
No. But I would love to base a character on neighbor from my childhood. He was so much fun and told the greatest stories.

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?
When I am not writing I love to travel. My sister and I along with the kids in the summer have traveled all over US, Caribbean and my sister and I conquered Europe in 2012.

Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?
I really would love to write a Regency Romance. I am totally in love with the clothes and the pomp and circumstance that surrounds the characters.

What book are you reading now?

Russian Hill by Ty Hutchinson

Book Description:

Dr. Erik Plez is a former Marine Officer who puts his skills as an investigator to use as he tries to solve the biggest mystery of his life....

Who is Erik Plez?......A sketchy past, with no memories of his childhood, at sixteen he was recruited for a secret team of Young Marines.

Now he’s on the run, running out of lies, making it hard for him to think of an alibi.

Excerpt

He was tired. This was the first time he’d been able to lie down in forty-eight hours. Of course it was a morgue but, that did not matter. His body needed the rest. The steel slab he rested upon was cold. Wait.... He could still feel...  Didn’t that mean he was still alive? The men who had found him said he had no heartbeat or pulse. They’d called the sheriff and he’d been brought to the morgue for an autopsy on Monday.

He tried to move his left hand to see his watch. It wouldn’t move. He tried to open his eyes. Nothing. He shook his head. His head still moved?  Maybe he was in a state of limbo and not truly dead, yet not truly alive. He sniffed the air. It was pure oxygen. He breath in deeply again. His hand moved. He took several more deep breaths. The slab beneath him was getting even colder. The oxygen. It was bringing him back to life.  Slowly he began to focus on breathing. His life was attached to the air.

About the Author:

So, you wanna know more about Abigail-Madison Chase? Interesting... I am not really that intricate. I am simple twenty... something.. well, actually forty something neurotic mom of two who has been writing since the Mrs. Turner's 4th grade English Language Arts class where she won FIRST prize in the Creative Writing Fair. My educational background is superb. I hold a B.F.A. and M.F.A in English and Literature from an awesome university.

I am highly trained professional at least in my mind. I believe myself to be Jane Bond Super Heroine who just happens to take time out to write some books for pleasure.

My house sits in the beautiful mountains of Western United States where I am continuously dreaming of other worlds.  My family and my writing exist in my world of make believe harmony. Each one is fighting for their right to become a character that I won't kill off. Sarcasm, quick wit and lots of laughs is what one will locate in Abigail's Wonderful World... a place where moments of peace and harmony descend upon me and my two children... Sit back and enjoy as I share my world.

Interview, Spotlight and Giveaway: Daddy’s Game by Normandie Alleman

Please share a little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.

I am a former psychologist. I live on a farm with a bunch of kids and animals and my husband who’s a former football player. I write contemporary and historical erotic romance, usually with some bondage and a spanking or two.

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

Daddy’s Game is the second in my Daddy’s Girl series about a group of girlfriends who like to be submissive for Daddy Doms. Daddy’s Game is the story of star wide receiver Natron Dakers and the curvy artist he falls for, Carmen.

Are you a mom?

Yes, my husband and I have two sets of twins and six kids, three boys and three girls like the Brady Bunch.

If yes do you find it hard to juggle writing and parenting?

Absolutely. Some weeks I feel like I’m a driving service shuttling kids and pets to appointments, sports, and other activities. If I’m going to be somewhere long enough I bring my laptop. I’ve written many words while waiting at the orthodontist or the ball field.

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?

All the time, but only aspects of their personality. I have a spunky girlfriend who I modeled Marley from the first Daddy’s Girl book after. Another friend was the physical inspiration for Charmaine, who is in the first two books and stars in the third one. And I was inspired by my husband’s career ending football injury to write this story of Natron’s injury.

Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?

Many times Doms in fiction are so alpha, so aggressive, that living with that sort of man would be difficult for many women. I consider the Daddy Doms I write about to reflect the softer side of BDSM. In Daddy Morebucks, James spoils Marley, and is very nurturing towards her. In Daddy’s Girl, Natron is playful and while he’s dominant, he’s not harsh or mean.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

Until last year I was a livestock breeder.

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

I love to needlepoint and do fiber arts. I’m also addicted to Twitter and Pinterest.

Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?

I love tragedy. In the future I intend to write some romances that don’t necessarily have a HEA. I love to cry and watch sad movies, read sad books. My mom says I’m twisted.

Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?

My pirate Gaston, the hero of Rescued by the Buccaneer from the Pirates of the Jolie Rouge trilogy. He’s dashing and charming, adorably flawed, great looking, and hey – he’s a swashbuckler, what more could I ask for?

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?

Yes, this is the second book in the Daddy’s Girl series. The first was Daddy Morebucks, and the third book is the story of poor little rich girl Charmaine who plays a role in both of the first two books. We’re expecting the third book to be released this Fall. There are at least seven books planned in this series.

What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in progress?

The next book to be released will be the second in my historical erotic pirate trilogy – Bound by the Buccaneer, which will be released in late July.

What book are you reading now?

I’m a huge audiobook junkie (Daddy’s Girl will be out in audiobook this July) so on my audio app I’m listening to The House at Riverton by Kate Morton. On my Kindle I’m reading HK Carlton’s Always Cambridge.

Daddy’s Game
Daddy’s Girl Series
Book Two
Normandie Alleman

Genre: Contemporary BDSM Erotic Romance

Publisher: Stormy Night Publication

Word Count: 62,000

Book Description:

Football and kink collide when the game’s biggest star convinces a beautiful artist to play Daddy’s Game.

Sparks fly when up-and-coming artist Carmen Harris meets football star Natron Dakers at her first gallery opening. Carmen soon discovers that Natron is the type of man who sees what he wants and goes after it… and apparently what he wants is her. Almost before she knows it Carmen finds herself taking everything Natron gives her and begging for more, and when he reveals that he wants to be her dominant daddy and her to be his submissive little girl, she doesn’t hesitate to agree.

At the top of his profession, Natron has money, fame, and all the perks that go with them, and now at last in Carmen he has found a woman he wants to share it with. His life feels complete… until in a split second everything comes crashing down when a devastating injury threatens to end his season—and maybe his career. Natron fears he will lose it all, but will he self-destruct or can he dig deep and fight hard for himself, his teammates, and his little girl?

Publisher’s Note: Daddy’s Game is the second book in the Daddy’s Girl series. It incorporates characters from the first book in the series, Daddy Morebucks, but it is a stand-alone novel. The content of Daddy’s Game includes spankings, graphic sexual scenes, elements of age play and BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

 Excerpt 1 (PG)

Just then she heard a knock at the door, and her emotions did a tap dance in her abdomen. Her hands fluttered with excitement as she moved to let him in.
“Hey, babygirl,” Natron said leaning casually in the door frame, his smile lighting up the already sunny loft.
The flirty name caught her off guard and she could feel her face strain with how hard she was smiling. So much for playing it cool.
“Hey,” she said, ushering him in.
Natron strutted through the door and looked around. “Man, this place is fly.”
“Thanks,” Carmen said, pulling two bottles from the refrigerator and handing him one. Not exactly the luxury digs he was accustomed to but it was perfect for her.
She noticed him searching for a chair. “Sorry, I don’t entertain very often.” She motioned to the bar stools at the kitchenette and made a note to create a small seating area downstairs with some of the money she would earn from this commission.
He straddled the stool and took a slug of water. “So tell me, how’s this thing gonna go down?”
“Well, I was considering painting you from behind. I think that would make a statement.”
The corners of his mouth curled up. “Oh, so you think I have a fine ass is what you’re sayin’.”
She slapped at his arm playfully. “Natron! I’m thinking artistically here.”
“I know. That’s what I’m sayin’.”
Trying to hide her smile, she said, “Okay. We’ll do it from the front. Just like everybody else.”
He touched her chin and winked. “I’m just playin’, babygirl. We’ll do whatever you want. You’re the artist.”
“I know, but you’re paying me so it’s important that you like it.”
“I gotcha,” he nodded and pulled his shirt over his head.
She couldn’t help but stare at the chiseled muscles underneath. His skin was as smooth and dark as the finest chocolate. Unconsciously, she licked her lips then took a sip of water.
“So…just the shorts?” She gulped. “You gonna leave on the shorts?”
“Yeah, don’t worry. I’m not gonna strip naked on you,” he laughed. “At least not right now.”
She giggled. “Do you want to be holding a football or is that too…obvious? It’s up to you.”
“I think I need the ball. Without it, I’m just a guy.”
“I’m not so sure about that.”
He tried a few different poses, most of them giving her a prime view of his well-defined muscles. The way his back rippled with sinewy strength made her knees wobble. She didn’t know a person could have so many different back muscles, the way the hard bumps contrasted with his silky dark chocolate skin made her pussy cream.
She walked around him, snapping pictures with her phone. “I’ll use these for reference. That way you won’t have to stay in the same position for hours and hours at a time.”
He lifted a brow lazily, “Girl, you tryin’ to get rid of me?”
She shook her head. “Of course not.” The man was like a sunshiney day, being around him lifted her spirits.
Finally he lighted on the stairs, legs apart he leaned over clutching the ball powerfully between his hands.
“That’s it!” she exclaimed.
“What?”
“That’s the pose right there. Don’t move.”
He stayed put as she circled him taking pictures from every conceivable angle. After she’d determined that she’d gotten the shots she wanted, she moved to her sketch pad. “Next I’m going to make some gesture drawings. Be sure this is the pose we want. Try to act natural and tell me about one of your favorite plays. Feel free to walk around, use your arms. Use your body to tell me the story.”
“Oh, I like that. You’re good,” he said waggling a finger at her.
